Harrah's
Cherokee Casino
In November
1997, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians opened its Harrah's Cherokee
Casino.
Located one mile from the downtown area, the 175,000 square foot
facility features an expanding gaming area as allowed in the new gaming
compact between the tribe and the State of North Carolina.
Previously limited to 60,000 square feet of gaming space, the tribe is permitted
to expand with no limitations on maximum area dedicated to gaming. Currently
there are 2,700 video-based gaming machines. You'll find a wide
variety
of the latest games including Double Diamond; Red White & Blue; Wild Cherry
plus video poker, video blackjack, and video craps. The casino also features
the highly popular "lock and roll", a variation of slot machines which offers
the player "two spins to win".
Another important aspect of the modified compact is the removal of the $25,000
maximum jackpot. Since January 2001, the casino has allowed for unlimited
jackpots depending on the game. For families with children and young adults
up to age 20, a day-care facility is available.
YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO ENTER THE CASINO, RESTAURANTS AND PAVILION.
Top entertainment is also offered at the Cherokee Pavilion. This information
is listed on our home page or by calling 1-800-HARRAHS or visiting the Harrah's
web site at
www.harrahs.com.
The casino is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day and is an enterprise
of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. For group tour information about
the casino, please call 828-497-8792.
Under construction
is a new 252-unit hotel and conference center adjacent to the casino. Anticipated
to open in spring 2002, the facility will include many, many features including
a 15,000 square foot conference facility and two additional restaurants.
Also, a multi-level parking garage is being constructed.
