Benefits of Volunteering through
RSVP
Personalized placement
We are different from other
volunteer organizations, because we concentrate on the talents and
desires of the volunteer. We
take what volunteers want to offer and match them to an
organization that needs that
skill and type of service. This way both the volunteer and the
organization are winners.
Satisfaction guarantee
If a volunteer placement does
not work out, we work with the volunteer to find a more suitable
placement. We strive to
maintain the positive attitude of the volunteer, reassuring them that it is
okay to seek a reassignment.
Secondary insurance
It doesn't happen often, but
when it does, the results can be serious...a volunteer is injured, or injures someone else, while
performing his or her volunteer duties. One of the benefits of volunteering with RSVP is that
you are provided insurance protection in case these things happen to you.
There are three
kinds of coverage:
-
$25,000 Excess
Accident Medical Coverage
-
$1,000,000
Excess Volunteer Liability Insurance
-
Excess
Automobile Liability Insurance
Limited reimbursement for
expenses
RSVP has the capability, though
limited, to reimburse volunteers for expenses in special circumstances.
Appreciation events w/
Presidential Service Awards
Presidential Service Awards,
presented annually, give formal recognition and thanks to volunteers for their efforts.
This can benefit volunteer stations that cannot otherwise recognize their volunteers.
Pro-Promoting the health and
welfare of a larger population of seniors
The biggest obstacle to
adult volunteerism, as mature folks report, is that they don't know
where to go
for information. Eighty-four percent of retirees say they would
volunteer. ~~Ken Dychtwald, Ph.D.
There are many well-documented
benefits to seniors who remain active in life and receive the rewards of giving of
themselves. RSVP exists to extend this tremendously valuable benefit to
seniors who would otherwise miss out. Simply volunteering on ones own does
not extend the benefits to other potential volunteers. By volunteering
under the auspices of RSVP, seniors can do something positive to share truly
life-giving opportunities with other seniors. (RSVP receives funding based
on the numbers of volunteer placements. RSVP uses the funding to recruit
and place additional volunteers.)
