Kick up you heels in these classes designed for fun and fitness. Do you have two left feet?? Not a problem since there is no experience required.

Please note: Do NOT wear sneakers – smooth soled shoes will ensure your greatest fun and safety.

BEGINNER PILATES
This class will focus on breathing techniques, stretching and lengthening muscles, and core strength conditioning. The class will start with exercises done in the chair but students will gradually work their way up to a series of mat exercises when they are ready. The goal is to have fun while building the core strength needed to help you with day to day functions, and to learn exercises you can do on your own.

Bring a towel for personal use on the mats provided by the Center.

2008 Challenge: Track the minutes when you walk “on purpose”. Let’s see if you can help the club walk the equivalent of 365 days in hours. (that’s 8,760 hours)

More information: All interested North Mecklenburg County older adults 55 + are eligible for this club, regardless of walking ability. Organized by North Mecklenburg Senior Center, Cornelius Parks and Recreation Department and supported by Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department.

This Arthritis Foundation Exercise Class is a recreational exercise program and is not designed to meet specific therapeutic problems, however is can address physical goals such as reducing pain, fatigue, and stiffness, restore or maintain joint range of motion, improve posture balance and coordination, maintain or increase muscle strength.

When: Mondays 9:30am – 10:30am, Wednesdays 9:30am – 10:30am
Dates: This class is on-going.
Who: All 55+ adults who are challenged with the effects of Arthritis. Most work will be done in a chair.

Fee: There is no charge for this class.

Every Monday afternoon. Bring your own materials for a project you are working on or start a new one. Some instruction will be given to get you started.

From beginners to experienced, come and learn the art of watercolor painting. Jim Kerr will lead you on your journey of expressing yourself with paints.

$15.00 per class per person

This class, appropriate for beginning yoga students, will use a chair as a prop, if needed, to help make postures more comfortable and beneficial to those who need modifications due to MS, arthritis, fibromyalgia and other limiting physical conditions.

A $2.00 per person per day donation will be appreciated but not required. You may drop in anytime between 9am – 3pm Monday through Friday for coffee, conversation, and play a game of your choice. Drop-in time is FREE.
