Fitness
Center programs are available at the Tyvola Senior Center and through the
West Side Senior Health Services at the Bette Rae
Thomas Center.
Fitness programs are also available through our
Shamrock Senior Center of Excellence and our
North Mecklenburg Senior Center, including dance classes and
walking clubs.

We provide a wide variety of cardiovascular
equipment as
well
as a strength
training system.
Persons 55 years or older. Participants can
expect increased aerobic capacity, increase in lean muscle tissue, increased
range of motion and joint stability as well as a decrease in body fat and
resting heart rate!
Each individual that comes into the fitness
center
(Tyvola & West
Side @ Bette Rae Center),
will receive an orientation that includes
exercise principals, proper use of equipment, blood pressure screenings, a
body fat test and workout chart.

Intake Forms are
required prior to exercising in our Health Suite.

these forms and fill out your portion and obtain your
physician's signature.

Once all
forms are completed, please call (704) 817-5461 to
schedule an initial orientation with our Graduate
Assistant.

Your
physician may fax the completed Physician Consent Form
to us at (704) 522-6444, or you may bring them in with
the rest of the forms.
Therapeutic Massage
At the Tyvola
Senior Center
Monday-Friday, 8:00 am- 5:00 pm
A regular massage
therapy program has proven results for maintenance of good health, as well
as reduction of pain and enhancement of general well being.
