JOB DESCRIPTION: Customer
Service - Communication Assistant
Job Location: Primarily at Tyvola
Senior Center; 5% Travel in the Community
Reports to: Tyvola Senior Center
Director
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontology, Park and Recreation, Business,
Communications or other related field
Hours: 20 Hours per week, Monday
through Friday. Schedule to be confirmed with Tyvola Director.
Pay Rate: $12 – $15 per hour
dependent upon experience.
Scope: Assist Tyvola Senior
Center Director and Program Assistant with greeting, enrolling
and informing customers of the Tyvola Senior Center and
Charlotte Mecklenburg Senior Centers, Inc.
Job Duties:

Greet, enroll and inform
customers in person, by email and on the phone.

Assist Director and Program
Assistant to prepare and produce all Tyvola participant
communications, i.e. flyers, class schedules, calendars,
eNewsletters, radio script, web content.

Maintain supply of documents
needed at reception desk.

Answer agency-wide phone
system.
-
Administer change box and
Health Suite and reception desk lock boxes.
-
Keep accurate records of
program enrollees and payments.
-
Assist in the compilation of
information necessary to prepare and produce reports
including those of West Side Senior Services.

Assist with participant
enrollment and production of participant cards for Tyvola
and West Side Centers.

Assist with item sales and
prepare appropriate check requests.
-
Enter data and generate
reports from the customer database.

Assist in the recruitment,
training, scheduling and recognition of Tyvola volunteers.

Provide updated department
information for agency website.
-
Open, record and disperse
agency mail if needed.
-
Maintain inventory of needed
supplies; order as needed.

Obtain training and teach
classes as necessary.

Other duties as assigned by
Tyvola Center Director.
Skills Required: Excellent skills
in the following area are required to fully execute the job
duties associated with this position.

communicate well in person and over the phone.

Written communication:
letters, memos, program schedules, flyers, eNewsletters and
registration forms.

Organization: filing,
assignments, volunteer scheduling

Multi-tasking: able to handle
multiple persons and phone calls in a fast paced
environment.

Relationship building: with
seniors, volunteers, co-workers.

Computer: excellent skills in
typing and computer programs contained in the MS Office
Professional Suite: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Publisher
as well as internet research and basic hardware trouble
shooting
